As we were working our way through the book of 2Kings, we hit chapter 14. Historically, that’s the time period of some of the “minor prophets.” So it seemed like a good juncture to pause our study of 2Kings and look at what the prophets were saying concerning God’s future dealings with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. After reviewing the book of Hosea, we turned our attention to Amos. Amos had a very brief prophetic career, but his nine-chapter book is considered “one of the most outstanding among the prophets, both because of its timeless message and because it contains some of the finest examples of literary artistry in the entire Old Testament” (NASB Keyword Study Bible notes).
